It doesn't work like that (for now). Marrying Ira (or any ruler children) won't make necessarily you and/or your spouse the next ruler. When the current ruler dies, a voting between the lords starts to resolve who should rule the kingdom. Another lord can be the new ruler, or even yourself. 22 votes, 10 comments. true.

Marrying off Companions. So I have not heard anything directly about this, but do you need to make a kingdom to marry off your companions and make your clan larger that way? you can make them lords and then they start their own clan and then some of them marry. but no, you cant do that directly.
